CINCINNATI – Recently released video shows a Cincinnati officer shoot an armed suspect.
According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Officer Marc Schildmeyer stopped 20-year-old Vernell Jackson on Sept. 11 after an undercover officer reported that he saw Jackson remove a handgun from his pocket and put it in his waistband.
Video shows Jackson reach for his waistband and grab his gun as Schildmeyer orders him to show his hands.
Schildmeyer then shoots Jackson, who survived.
Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters, who announced the officer has been cleared in the shooting, also credits the officer’s quick lifesaving efforts as the reason Jackson survived the shooting.
Jackson is in stable condition at a hospital and will face charges.
